Practical Self-Defense Training for the Real World
Practical aikido for real self-defense. Techniques that work against any attacker. Serving Omaha since 1998.
At Sarpy Aikido in La Vista, we offer three distinct training programs designed to build practical self-defense skills. Our classes combine traditional aikido principles with modern combat application— pressure-tested techniques that work against real attacks, not just compliant partners.
Our core training for all experience levels. Learn to control and neutralize attackers using traditional techniques refined for modern threats—including weapons defense, multiple attacker scenarios, and techniques pressure-tested against resisting opponents.
Build your foundation in practical self-defense. Perfect for beginners—learn essential movements, core principles, and basic techniques you can use immediately. No experience required; just willingness to learn.
Put your skills to the test. Focused drilling, scenario training, and controlled sparring with partners of all levels. This is where you find out if your techniques actually work— and refine them until they do.
Comfortable athletic clothing for your first class. As you progress, you'll have the option to purchase a traditional gi (uniform).
Clean mats, safety equipment, and a culture of mutual respect. We push each other to improve while maintaining a safe training space.
Progressive resistance—start slow, increase intensity as you develop skill. Every technique is tested to ensure it works, not just looks good.
Start with Fundamentals Classes. Build your base: essential movements, core techniques, and how to fall safely.
Practice until techniques become instinctive. Learn proper distance, timing, and how to read an attacker's intentions.
Train advanced techniques, weapons defense, multiple attackers, and full curriculum training.
Saturday Open Mats are available at any stage—test your skills with controlled resistance and get honest feedback.
